The ADA Coordinator’s Office is located in the Department of Economic and Community Development, Room 404, 626 State Street, Erie, PA 16501. In accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990, the ADA Coordinator is responsible for ensuring that all programs, services, and activities provided by the City of Erie are accessible to people with disabilities. The ADA Coordinator also assists architects, developers, business owners, landlords and others in finding the appropriate information and resources for designing or redesigning their facilities so that they are usable by all persons, including those with disabilities.

Publications

The City of Erie has written the following documents to assist people with disabilities in modifying their homes and business owners in modifying their shops so that they are usable by people with mobility and other physical disabilities. Please click on a link below to view each publication.

Mayor’s Roundtable on Disabilities

The Mayor’s Roundtable on Disabilities was re-established in June, 2007 under Mayor Joseph Sinnott. The panel consists of advocates, service providers, and consumers from throughout the community. Each member of the advisory panel volunteers their time and expertise to keep the Mayor informed of important initiatives and potential concerns relating to persons with disabilities.

It is the policy of the City of Erie that all City-sponsored public meetings and
events are accessible to people with disabilities. If you need assistance in participating in
this meeting or event due to a disability as defined under the ADA, please call the City’s
ADA Coordinator, Mas Sala at (814) 870-1469 at least five (5) business days prior to the scheduled meeting or event to request an accommodation.

REASONABLE ACCOMMODATION POLICY

In accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990, the City of Erie has adopted the following policy for addressing requests for reasonable accommodations made by people with disabilities in its services, activities, programs, policies, procedures, rules, and regulations.
Citizens seeking reasonable accommodations through the ADA should submit their request in writing* to:

The ADA Coordinator will consider the accommodation and the petitioner will be
notified within one week of receipt of the request.
* Alternative means of filing a request, such as personal interviews, phone calls, or taped requests, will be made available for persons with disabilities if unable to communicate their request in writing.
